How and when do I apply for a student loan?
Application forms are available from your LEA and for download here . You should apply as soon as you can, even before you are offered a place at university.
When will I get the funds?
They will usually be available at the start of the term. You must apply on time to your LEA if you don't want them to be delayed.
Who can I ring for help or advice in applying?
You can contact your LEA for general questions or the Student Loans Company Customer Support Office.
What is an academic year?
It is simply the year of a course. It is considered as starting on 1 September, 1 January or 1 July, etc., and not on when the first day of attendance falls.
Is there extra help available aside from student loans?

What happens if I transfer courses, colleges, or universities?
You must inform your LEA as soon as possible, as it can affect whether you still might be able to avail of financial aid.
